Mosquito Bite Process: Painless probing

1. Landing and Probing:

• A female mosquito lands on your skin.
• She uses her sensory organs to find a suitable spot to bite, often attracted to exposed areas like ankles or arms.
• She probes the skin with her mouthparts to locate a blood vessel.

2. Piercing the Skin:

• Once she finds a blood vessel, the mosquito uses her sharp, needle-like mouthparts to pierce the skin.
• These mouthparts are designed to saw through the skin with minimal pain, so you might not even feel it initially.

3. Injecting Saliva:

• As the mosquito feeds, she injects saliva into the bite wound.
